VINEYARDS

All Mas Igneus vineyards are certified organic by the CCPAE. The varieties with which we mainly work with are Red Grenache and Carignan.  Furthermore,  Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot plantations and for white wines, White Grenache.

Currently our farms are Costers de l’Ermita , where the winery is located, Cap Mas, in Gratallops. Additionally, Finca Comellars in Poboleda, El Maset, where one of our most precious treasures is found. The vines located here are more than 100 years old. Lastly the farm Finca La Salanca in Torroja del Priorat.

In total we utilize 25 hectares of vineyards that give life to Mas Igneus and its wines.

COSTER DE L’ERMITA

The second, a vineyard in the shape of an amphitheatre with the village of Gratallops in the background.
Its south-east exposure, an altitude between 227-369m and annual thermal radiation higher than the rest of our estates make them our earliest vineyards.

From these vineyards we produce: Our Wine Vila de Gratallops, La Capelleta, a 100% white Grenache wine, aged on lees in French oak, acacia and chestnut barrels.

The V de Mas Igneus, a Blanc de Noirs made from Merlot and red Grenache.
And finally the Syrah, vinified in open barrels due to its small production and which will bring a spicy touch to our wines.

LA SALANCA

From this plot, very close to Scala Dei, come the Carignan grapes that will give rise to our Cuvée d’exception Coster de l’Ermita.

It is a plot located on a south-west facing slope, at an altitude of between 430 and 560 m, with a 30% slope and often subject to the force of the wind.

This set of conditions allows us to obtain a small-sized grape, which evolves at the rhythm of the seasons until it reaches an optimum state of ripeness, allowing us to harvest small aromatic bombs whose nuances can be found in our Coster de l’Ermita.

EL MASET

It is a plot of 5,5 ha, located between Poboleda and Cornudella del Montsant, it consists of 3,5 ha of vineyards in production and 2 ha of old olive groves that we hope to be able to recover and obtain oil in a few years.

This plot has a small Maset and a fig tree, which according to the diameter of its trunk must be the same age as the surrounding Coster de Carignan, planted in 1910!!!! We are very interested to see all that this little corner lost in time can give us!

The future?

Wines such as  Aura de Mas Igneus 1910 represent the  future of Mas Igneus.

COMELLARS

Amphitheatre-shaped vineyard located on the left hand side, just outside Poboleda, in the direction of Cornudella del Montsant. East exposure and 369m at 436m altitude.

Our Grenache and Cabernet Sauvignon come from this estate, each one bringing the best of its genetics: The former bring us friendliness and aromas of red fruits.

The latter, located in the highest part (cooler growing conditions) provide the structure and length on the palate that we will later find in our aged red wines.

CAP MAS

It is a plot of 5.5 ha, to be planted in its entirety, in an area called Les Aubagues, in Gratallops.

In this farm we produce our olive oil O de Mas Igneus and the variety of vines planted is Carignan.
