FROM IGNEUS TO MAS IGNEUS
Igneus, means “fire” or also, “that which comes from the nature of fire”.
The Latin adjective “igneus” brings us poetically closer to passion and love.
Igneus can mean: ignited, dazzling, glowing, burning, “that which enlivens or ignites a passion“.
OUR STORY
The origin of Igneus began in 1997. Two winegrowers decided to join forces by creating a new wine project.
The Cooperative Poboleda, the Alta Alella and Albet & Noya wineries joined forces and put forward their land as a foundation for a completely organic wine production.
It was at that time the first organic wine project in Priorat.
IGNEUS
The new Igneus winery was inaugurated just before the 2004 harvest. The cooperative founded years before was transformed into a company with the central aim of creating a new brand to maintain the quality and to support the new wines created for the project.
It was the Albet & Noya brothers who eventually transformed the cooperative into a company. The family had already owned a winery in Penedès since 1903. With a great deal of experience in winemaking and in the production of organic wines, they saw an opportunity in Priorat to create a high quality wine with different characteristics.
With an architectural project by the hand of by Alfons Soldevila i Barbosa architect, In 2004 a new winery was created in Gratallops.
MAS IGNEUS
Finally, from the hand of Ornella we come to the present. After 16 years of Igneus, in 2020 and with a great heritage, cultivated during all these years, we arrive at Mas Igneus Priorat.
Toni left his passion in the hands of Ornella to give way to a new stage of Mas Igneus.
More often than not, personal stories lead us to converge at the same point. Daniel, Ariadna, Hamid and Ricard joined Mas Igneus Priorat to help Ornella with their new life project.
The DNA of Mas Igneus Priorat is love. Love encompasses all the values contributed by each of its protagonists. Each one of us brings a grain of sand that fuses together.
The fusion of all our experiences motivated by love is the DNA of Mas Igneus.
MAS IGNEUS PRIORAT
Each vintage is a cycle of life, a cycle of nature in which it is born, grows, ages and dies to give life again. In this cycle, big and small things happen. Both personally and professionally. Every day is a small adventure that becomes routine. At Mas Igneus, we try to turn routine into poetry.
It is the moment of bottling, when all the moments lived and the memories of that cycle are fused in a bottle of wine.
The greatest satisfaction is to be able to bring a piece of the heart of the Priorat to your home.
